Celebrating Christmas in July
GET INTO THE FESTIVE SPIRIT AND LET'S MAKE YOUR CHRISTMAS IN JULY A MEMORABLE OCCASION.
This year our amazing team at Lifes A Hamper have decided to celebrate Christmas in July. We love the Christmas gifting season, and all the chaos it brings that we wanted to celebrate Christmas twice!
Compared to those living in the Northern hemisphere, dreaming of a white Christmas just doesn't happen in Australia when celebrating Christmas festivities in December. We are all accustomed to Christmas being held during mid summer where, let's be honest, the temperature can get quite hot and humid. That's why for us Australians having backyard bbq’s, picnic lunches by the water or alfresco meals with cold seafood platters are what many would consider as a typical Christmas gathering spent with family and friends. Many of our Northern hemisphere friends will often question and joke on how Christmas in the summertime can't possibly be a “real” Christmas without the wintery cold temperatures, snow and traditional hot Christmas foods enjoyed indoors by the warm fireplace. So, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a second “bonus” Christmas in July that allows for a “magical winter wonderland” to be experienced.
Traditionally, Christmas in July is held on July 25th, but in Australia we tend to hold festivities throughout the entire month of July.
Depending on where you plan your wintery celebrations, you may be lucky to experience it with snow (even if some snow isn't quite real) and have yourself a white Christmas.
Our absolute favourite part when it comes to indulging in Christmas in July is being around the warm fireplace and eating a comforting feast of hot traditional foods that we would not frequently eat during our summer Christmas (Think hot stuffed turkey or roast meats, eggnog, mulled-wine or pumpkin pie) and the silly Christmas sweaters! We love it all and it is just another fabulous reason to be able to celebrate, eat, drink and be merry. So, if you haven't tried being involved in the fun and excitement of Christmas in July, take this as an opportunity to catch up with family and friends without the usual stress and rush that our December silly seasons brings and enjoy a winter, white Christmas feel.
Thinking that the whole Christmas in July is too much effort? Fear not! With more Australians getting onboard in celebrating this “unofficial Christmas day”, many hotels, wineries and restaurants host ticketed Christmas festivities throughout the entire month of July, so you are able to enjoy a traditional Northern hemisphere style Christmas.
For your upcoming Christmas in July themed party, conference or work event, indulge your guests with their very own Christmas in July gift hamper - styled in a festive Christmas gift sack that's filled with a selection of traditional sweet and savoury Christmas treats.
